How brand authority actually gets built
The Brand Authority Roadmap lays out the full P.H.A.S.E.S.® Ecosystem in the order you would use it: what each part is, why it exists and when it matters. Built for B2B founders and expert service providers.

Who's Behind This?
Hi, I'm Tariq
My name is Tariq Peters. I'm a Brand Authority Strategist and the creator of the P.H.A.S.E.S.® Brand Authority System.
I founded Follow The Phases®, a brand authority agency that turns private credibility into recognised authority for fractional finance founders and founder-owned finance practices.
Four Stages of Brand Authority® is my documentation layer: the platform where I teach B2B founders and expert service providers how to build authority for themselves.
It all started in July 2024, when I left my full-time role.
The day after I quit, I jumped out of a plane. That skydive took away the fear that had been holding me back, and everything I've built since started there.
For the last two years I've been developing the methodology, the business and the brand in public: learning, failing, building, winning and testing in real time.
On 1 January 2026 I made a commitment to upload one long-form video to YouTube every day for 1,000 days, on the road to building a seven-figure brand. The final video lands on 26 September 2028.
That documentation is the method in action: what I do for myself and for my clients.
The last two years have been turbulent. They have also been life-changing, and I owe it all to building brand authority over time.
This resource is everything I've learned, organised so you can use it. Whether you're just starting out or already established, take what applies to you.
Use it to future-proof your brand for what comes next, including the rise of AI.
If this resource is useful to you, all I ask is for two favours once you’ve finished:
- Subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow the journey. I’m documenting the process of building a seven-figure brand in real time using the methodology behind this resource.
- Share this resource with someone you know who would find it useful, particularly someone focused on growing their brand, future-proofing their authority and scaling their business.

A Belief Worth Stating Plainly
The Personal Branding Deadline
I have a belief that there's a personal branding deadline, and the 30th of November 2027 is the day I think it arrives. It's five years to the day since ChatGPT launched, and everything about what it means to build a brand has shifted since.
A personal brand gives you visibility. Without a business, an offer or a way to generate revenue behind it, that visibility is a vanity metric.
Visible gets you seen. Credible gets you chosen. In this climate, you need both.
That belief is what led me to build this methodology and share it with no gatekeeping. It costs me nothing and might genuinely help you.
Where It Starts
The translation problem
Most B2B founders and expert service providers already have the expertise. What is usually missing is translation: turning years of value into something the market can actually see.
The people who know you understand your value. The wider market does not recognise enough of it yet.
This system is
- For experts whose expertise is part of why clients buy.
- For B2B founders and expert service providers with commercial ambition beyond filling their own diary.
This system is not
- A guide to becoming an influencer.
- A plan to post more or manufacture visibility.
- A way to create substance that is not there.
The Foundation
What brand authority actually is
The level of recognised trust a person or business holds around a specific problem, subject or market. It exists when the right people can do five things.
Four principles underneath the system
Recognition and trust must grow together
Select a quadrant to see what it looks like in the market.
Recognition without trust creates attention. Trust without recognition stays hidden. Strong authority needs both, at the same time.
The Map
The whole ecosystem on one page
Nine frameworks: a diagnosis, then a three-step growth sequence that only fully works as a chain. Select any part to jump to it.
Three names, three scopes
The name P.H.A.S.E.S.® appears three times in this ecosystem, and each one means something precise.
P.H.A.S.E.S.® Ecosystem
The complete architecture on this page: the diagnosis, the growth sequence, the flagship asset and the supporting tools.
P.H.A.S.E.S.® Brand Authority System
Step 2 of the growth sequence: the engine that constructs, activates and compounds authority.
P.H.A.S.E.S.® Framework
Only the six-phase Activation layer inside the system.
Diagnose the constraint. Validate the market. Construct the brands. Activate the authority. Compound the trust. Diversify the value.
Diagnose
Four Stages of Brand Authority®
Before building anything, find the current constraint. Authority charges from the bottom up, like a battery. Select a stage.
The diagnostic logic
Four questions, asked in order. The earliest honest "no" is normally your stage.
| Question | A "no" points to | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Can the market explain what you should be trusted for? | Stage 1 |
| 2 | Does the market encounter that position reliably? | Stage 2 |
| 3 | Can the market verify your claim? | Stage 3 |
| 4 | Can the system survive a major point of failure? | Stage 4 |
Most brands that stall are not unlucky. They skipped a stage.
Step 1 · Validate
The S.T.A.R.T. Method
Validates the market before you build: the right offer, for the right buyer, before any money goes into authority.
Why it comes first
A clear sentence cannot rescue the wrong buyer, a weak problem or an offer built on assumption. Much of what looks like a positioning problem is really a market-fit problem.
When it matters most
In Stage 1, and any time the buyer, problem or offer changes. It is the step most founders skip, and the most expensive one to skip.
Amplifying an unvalidated offer means paying to tell more people something the market has not confirmed it wants.
Step 2 · Build · Construction
The 3B Authority Method
Around the same expertise, three brands exist. Each does a different job, and none should be forced to do all three.
= Brand authority
Why multiply?
Because it is a dependency. If one brand is close to zero, the whole equation collapses, however strong the other two are.
Which comes first?
Personal, then business, then campaign. The business borrows the person's trust; the campaign borrows both. Momentum without trust and proof becomes noise.
The campaign brand most founders are missing
A focused, recognisable initiative that gives people a reason to pay attention now. It can be a documentation layer (showing the work in public over a defined period), a marketing initiative (a named report, launch or challenge) or a named movement.
Documentation beats promotion. Promotion asks people to believe you. Documentation shows them.
Step 2 · Build · Activation
The P.H.A.S.E.S.® Framework
Six phases that put a validated brand into consistent motion. Select a phase.
The market always knows who you are, what you stand for and why you are worth listening to.
Step 2 · Build · Compounding
The Authority Flywheel
A compounding system that turns content and credibility into commercial momentum, with the flagship asset at the centre. Select a stage.
Why a flywheel, not a funnel
A funnel ends at revenue, so the next campaign rebuilds attention and trust from zero.
In a flywheel, revenue produces proof, learning and stronger assets, so each rotation starts from a stronger position.
When it matters most
In Stage 3, when you are visible but not yet validated. More reach does not repair a proof gap. It shows the gap to more people.
Revenue is reinvestment, not an endpoint.
Inside the Amplification Stage
The Authority Access Amplifier
Your AAA backstage pass: a map of the channels where a name gets amplified through other people's audiences, built on warm relationships well before there is anything to pitch.
The Authority Access Amplifier and PR are different jobs
The Authority Access Amplifier builds the landscape and the relationships. PR is strategised, asset-led pitching that uses those relationships. One without the other rarely works.
A map, not a checklist
Not every channel applies to everyone. The routes that matter depend on your sector, stage and strengths. The most common misstep is chasing awards before there is proof behind the name.
At the Centre of the System
The flagship Authority Asset
Strong positioning and good content can still leave a gap between a buyer discovering you and being ready to speak to you. The flagship Authority Asset fills that gap.
Content communicates expertise
A post, a short video or an email. Attention in the moment, then it disappears.
Assets package expertise
Something people can inspect, use, share and remember. Assets keep working after you publish them. Posts do not.
The Six Authority Asset Types
Choose what your market needs next to see the type that answers it.
Authority is the opposite of a discount. It is why people pay full price.
Step 3 · Diversify
The Authority Pipeline
Eight commercial pathways, so the business never depends on one lead source, client or platform. Filter by the job each pathway does.
Referrals are the gold standard. They should not be the only standard.
The goal is not eight income streams
It is reducing dangerous dependence, which matters most in Stage 4. An early resilience standard looks like this:
The System in Motion
The Authority Loop
Authority does not have an endpoint. It loops, and it gets stronger each cycle because it learns.
Feedback sharpens the position, clients create proof, proof improves the asset and conversations feed the next cycle.
Private credibility, recognised authority, buyer engagement, commercial value. Then it compounds.
What future-proof means
Authority that does not depend on one platform, client or algorithm, and a loop that adapts when things change.
Why the order matters
Build without market evidence and you get polished authority aimed at an assumption. Diversify too early and you get weak pathways with little trust behind them.
